Originating from Kumamoto City, this project was realized with the collaboration of Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the popular manga "ONE PIECE," and Shueisha, to support the recovery of the areas affected by the Kumamoto Earthquake in April 2016. In November 2020, a "Chopper statue" was also erected at the Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens, and statues of the "Straw Hat Pirates" were installed in various towns and villages within Kumamoto Prefecture (Usopp in Aso City, Franky in Takamori Town, Sanji in Mashiki Town, Brook in Mifune Town, Zoro in Ozu Town, Nami in Nishihara Village, and Robin in Minamiaso Village). These statues of the "Straw Hat Pirates" are contributing to the recovery of Kumamoto.
