From February 10, 2024 (Saturday), the exhibition "DESIGNS: Yoshitaka Amano Design Exhibition" has been confirmed to take place at the Tokorozawa Sakura Town EJ Anime Museum.
This large-scale exhibition marks the first of its kind for the designer Yoshitaka Amano, who has created a unique world through his work, including iconic pieces such as "Five Star Stories," mechanical designs for TV anime, and character designs.
Since the start of his career in 1983, Yoshitaka Amano has consistently produced innovative and original designs. In the TV anime "Heavy Metal L-Gaim" (produced by Sunrise), broadcasted from 1984 to 1985, he designed all the mechas and characters, garnering significant attention. The multi-jointed frame structure of the robots and the diverse fashion of the characters in this work influenced subsequent anime productions. Starting serialization in "Monthly Newtype" in 1986 and continuing to this day, "Five Star Stories" showcases new designs that have evolved and been passed down.
The "DESIGNS: Yoshitaka Amano Design Exhibition" will feature carefully selected original drawings, illustrations, concept art, rough sketches, and more, totaling around 340 pieces. Works include pre-commercial debut pieces, "Heavy Metal L-Gaim," "Mobile Suit Z Gundam," "Brain Powerd," "Shellbit," "Five Star Stories," "Flowers of Song Maiden: Gothicmade," and others.
Additionally, the exhibition plans to offer original merchandise for sale. Take this opportunity to experience the world of Amano's designs.
